Engineering Bright Futures: 5th Graders Build Recycled Houses with Electric Circuits!

Our 5th grade scientists stepped into the shoes of real-world engineers to explore how electricity can transform lives.

As part of our science unit, students learned about basic engineering principles and how electricity powers our modern world. They discussed how people’s lives have changed with access to electric power and how engineers play a role in designing solutions for communities.

To put learning into action, students used recycled materials to construct model houses and then designed simple electric circuits to bring light to their creations. With batteries, copper tape, and mini light bulbs, students completed their circuits to illuminate their model homes. A powerful demonstration of how engineering and electricity can make a real difference.
