At our first parent meeting, I shared several thoughts that I believe are important for all of us to remember throughout the year. St. Agnes Academy is not simply a school. It is a ministry of St. Agnes Catholic Parish. By choosing St. Agnes Academy, you and your children become part of our parish family.
Our hope is not only to provide your children with an excellent academic education, but also to help them know Jesus Christ, grow in their Catholic faith, learn to pray, and understand that God has a purpose for their lives.
This mission, however, cannot be accomplished by the school alone. Parents are the first and most important teachers of the faith. What children learn at school becomes much stronger when they see that same faith lived at home.
For this reason, Sunday Mass is essential. It is not simply another school requirement. The Eucharist is at the center of our Catholic life, and keeping the Lord’s Day holy teaches our children something no classroom lesson can replace: God comes first.
I encourage you not only to attend school activities, but also to become active members of our parish community. Come to Mass. Pray with us. Serve with us. Allow St. Agnes to become your spiritual home.
Our parish offers many opportunities for spiritual growth, including different kinds of retreats for adults, retreats for men, retreats for women, and retreats for married couples, as well as Confession, Eucharistic Adoration, parish ministries, spiritual formation, and opportunities for service. Our Blessed Sacrament Chapel is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. I also invite you, when possible, to consider joining us for daily Mass after dropping off your children.
Please also pay close attention to all communications from our Faith Formation Department. Sacramental preparation, meetings, schedules, and formation opportunities are an essential part of the Catholic education and spiritual growth of your children.
Most importantly, please know that we truly care for your children, but we also care for you. We know family life brings joys, challenges, questions, and sometimes difficult moments. The parish and school are here to accompany you, support you, pray with you, and walk with you.
You chose St. Agnes. Now I invite you to make St. Agnes your home.
Let us walk together as parents, teachers, administrators, priests, religious sisters, and parishioners, helping our children grow not only in knowledge, but also in faith, character, and love for Christ.
